PIECEMAKER
Back in 2005 we had been playin music together as a
progressive metal band 'Reflected' for nearly two years and had
got together but a few songs and a load of frustration. It was
in the late 2005 the six of us had a sit-down at one of
Tampere's local bars: It was time to talk about the group's
musical future. More or less everyone seemed to agree the music
we had made wasn't meeting our needs in terms of composing nor
playing. Everyone agreed that the group wasn't going to split
anywhere, so we needed to ponder what we actually wanted out of
this band or making music altogether. After throwing around some
thoughts we came to the conclusion that the complexity of our
music then had been our disbenefit. We decided to go to the
basics and compose music with our hearts instead of our brains.
So was born 'Piecemaker'.
We
tend to absorb influences from all kinds of sources nowadays:
the mainstream rock of the 80s, funk, progressive rock and even
from jazz sometimes, and put all this stuff together with the
sound and feel of the twenty first century. Our goal is to make
music open to every kind of influence that comes about, trying
new things. In the
late 2006 we recorded a demo called “Cave Canem”, which
hopefully represents these high standards we put to ourselves.
At the moment we are unsigned when it comes to a label deal or
such, nothing binds us anywhere at the moment. We'll just have
to wait and see what happens next…
